The vastness of Allah’s creation

The vastness of Allah’s creation

Antares is the 15th brightest star in the sky. It is more than 1000 light years away.

The nearest star to us is approx 4 light years away.

Calculation of a light year

A light year is 5,865,696,000,000 miles (9,460,800,000,000 kilometers).

Let’s say that a star is 1 million light years away. The light from that star has traveled at the speed of light to reach us. Therefore, it has taken the star’s light 1 million years to get here, and the light we are seeing was created 1 million years ago. So the star we are seeing is really how the star looked a million years ago, not how it looks today.

In the same way, our sun is 8 or so light minutes away. If the sun were to suddenly explode right now, we wouldn’t know about it for eight minutes because that is how long it would take for the light of the explosion to get here.

When Allah wishes good for a person

When Allah wishes good for a person

On the authority of Muawiyah (May Allah be please with him) it is reported that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said,

“When Allah wishes good for someone, He bestows upon him the understanding of Deen”

[Bukhari and Muslim]

“Knowledge and understanding of Deen (religion) here stands for the understanding of the Qur’an and Hadith, religious injunctions, and knowledge of the lawful and the unlawful. This Hadith highlights the excellence of knowledge and the fact that it is a sign of Allah’s Help to the person who possesses it and acts upon it.”

Dua of a muslim for another muslim

Dua of a muslim for another muslim

On the authority of Umm Darda (May Allah be pleased with her) it is reported that Prophet (Peace be upon him) said:

“…the dua of a muslim for his brother (in Islam) in his absence is readily accepted, and an angel is appointed to his side, whenever he makes a beneficial dua for his brother the appointed angel says “Ameen and may you also be blessed with the same”

Because of the abovementioned hadith, whenever the Companions of Rasullullah(saw) (May Allah be pleased with them all) asked Allah for something and they really wanted it, they would ask for the same thing for their brother/sister in Islam.

The similitude of one who prays the 5 daily prayers

The similitude of one who prays the 5 daily prayers

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (May Allah be pleased with him) it is related that he once heard the Prophet (Peace be upon him) say,

“What would you think if there were a river running by the door of the house of anyone of you, and he bathed in it 5 times a day, everyday, would any trace of dirt be left on him?” The people said: “No, there would be no trace of dirt on him.” The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: “This is like the 5 daily prayers, through which Allah cleanses you and washes away your past sins”

Assisting one another

Assisting one another

On the authority of Ibn Umar (May Allah be pleased with him and his father) it is related that the Prophet (Peace be upon him) said,

A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim. So he should not oppress him nor should he hand him over to (his satan or to his self which is inclined to evil). Whoever fulfils the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfil his needs; whoever removes the troubles of his brother, Allah will remove one of his troubles on the Day of Resurrection; and whoever covers up the fault of a Muslim, Allah will cover up his fault on the Day of Resurrection.”

[Bukhari and Muslim]
